MENTAL FLOSS

We all know how important daily flossing truly is. It is imperative, in any program of good daily hygiene, to use MENTAL FLOSS as part of that regimen.

Each month I will provide you with several strands of mental floss created by various mental hygienists of both recent and distant times. You may choose to memorize these strands of floss, attach them to index cards for your wallet, mount on your computer screen or refrigerator, or place on the bathroom mirror near your toothbrush. Whatever you choose, flossing daily betweens the earsis strongly recommended. Lastly, please feel free to share your floss with others.

Ask the Expert

As always, I encourage everyone to use mental floss daily. This column's
first strand of floss comes courtesy of Marcel Proust. This great mental
hygienist said, "We don't receive wisdom; We must discover it for ourselves after a journey that no one can take for us . . . or spare us."

I would also like to turn you on to some truly ancient floss. Incredibly, these two strands are still intact:

He who has begun has half done. Dare to be wise; begin!
Horace 65 - 8 B.C.

Let us train our minds to desire what the situation demands.
Seneca 4 B.C. - A.D. 65

And lastly,

When you finally do, what you know you need to do, you'll wish you did it sooner.
