The E-Magazine for Caregiver Fathers
Issue 3, originally appeared in print - August 1991
We've made it to issue #3 and it s getting better all the time. Like a small child, this baby of mine is always changing, bringing new problems, challenges and enjoyment. Let me make one admission, I'm having fun. it's great, I enjoy this immensely. All of you make this possible, I'm knee deep in red ink and not worried at all (well maybe a bit, maybe I have mortgaged my children's hope for a college education).
As is becoming routine, there are changes here behind the scenes as well as on the pages. I'd first like to thank T-Grey Parker for all of his invaluable assistance as Graphic Designer for the first two issues, I couldn't have done it with out his help. T-Grey has restructured his priorities and moved on to other projects that are promising and where his heart really lies; enabling him to continue to care for his daughter while also pursuing these opportunities. We look forward to his continuing presence in FULL- TIME DADS as a contributing author.
On board now is Joe Juliano of St. Paul, Mn. Joe is a retired musician, has been a full-time dad for 4 years with two children. His being a "neighbor" will ease the final production as well as the deadline crush. Joe brings his own style to these pages which, with any luck, will remain a constant. The new style effectively enlarges the content, is easier to read, and enables us to place about 30 pages of material on the existing 24.
New to the staff is Jerry Gabrielson who is now officially the Staff photographer,a full time dad for 21/2 years to his two children, ages 21/2 and 6 months. We need to expand the photo's and with Jerry's help.
The third addition is Karl Larson of Milwaukee, a seasoned full-time dad of a fourteen year old son with "raging hormones" and "all the answers": i.e. a typical teenager. Karl brings this much needed perspective as well as his experience in publishing and marketing to our fold and we look forward to his participation with great optimism.
I also want to mention Craig Martin who remains a much needed constant in helping this "read" as well as it does as well as his regular feature; Father Forum .
One other change is the additional members of the FULL-TIME DADS network. Issues have reached as far as Thailand and New Zealand. Welcome, let's hear from you too! I've been asked more than once why everything is about dads and little kids. Having Karl on with us will help end that but the answer is quite simple - you dads with the older kids or teenagers, haven't sent me anything, I can't publish what I don't have. If you're waiting for the other guy, you may be waiting a long time. The same goes for the single dads, mothers, teen dads and dads working child care along with your outside jobs. Sure time is pressing down on all sides all the time, but believe me, none of us have all the time in the world. Somebody has to start, it may as well be you. If you've already looked through these pages and haven't found your submission that I told you I'd use sit back enjoy what's here and wait until next issue. The reasons for it not appearing are varied; from lack of space, time constraints or perhaps just fitting better in an upcoming issue. Those of you who have delayed sending something - don't! You know you've got something to share, do it now.
