Give Him A Day

What shall I give to one small boy? A glamorous game, a tinseled toy,

A shiny kite, a puzzle pack, A train that runs on a curving track?

A picture book, a real live pet...

No, there's plenty of time for those things yet.

Give him a day for his very own just one small boy and his dad alone.

A walk in the woods, romp in the park,

A fishing trip from dawn to dark.

Give the gift that only you can

The companionship of his "Old Man"

Games are outgrown and toys decay, but he'll never forget if you give him a day.

We Believe In Children

We believe in children- little ones big ones
thin ones and chubby ones.
There is faith in their eyes, love in their touch,
hope in their attitude.
We thrill with them at life's little joys,
bow to them in worship
and hold them close in tragedy.
We believe in children, the fragile dream of yesterday,
life's radiant reality today
and vibrant substance of tomorrow.
We believe in children, for wherever we go,
we find yesterday's children who were nurtured in love,
truth and beauty at work trying to make this world
a better place for everyone.

To Joseph At Dawn

When twinkling eyes awake too soon And weary Mom is reluctant to rise. You softly take our baby. Enfolding her in your stronger arms. You gather her against you, And whispering quietly, steal away from our bed.

With patient words and gentle steps You take her into a balmy daw; Walking her out amidst the dew; Introducing her to new-grown grass and delicate buds Together you intimately greet the morning.

Lulled by your love and nature's serenade of sounds She slips back into sleep, secure, serene. Then, tenderly, you bring her back to me Drowsily I reach out an arm And pull her against my warmth We nestle together and sink back into slumber Both filled with the peace of your loving.
