Bits & Pieces

Newsletter

National Fathers Network Newsletter contains a wealth of personal experience stories from caring fathers of special needs children, some of them reprinted from the "Fathers Voices" column in Exceptional Parent magazine. As supportive and reassuring as it is to read the pages of Full-Time Dads, so it will be for these special fathers to read the pages of NFNN.

In the past, the newsletter was sent free of charge, as were information and training packages. In order for the newsletter to continue, donations are now being asked for. If you'd like some more information, send a SASE to: National Fathers Network, Kindering Center, 16120 N. E. 8th St., Bellevue, WA 98008, Attn.: James May. Donations of $5 and up can be sent to the same address. Tell them you heard about it in Full-Time Dads.

Daddy Ringo

Ringo Starr, not everyone's first choice for Father Of The Year, has canceled his US tour to be in London with his daughter after she had an operation to drain fluid from her brain. Lee Starkey, Ringo's daughter by first wife Maureen, was through the operation and up and about soon after. Said daddy Ringo, "Family is more important, isn't it?" And I didn't even know he was on tour to begin with...

Kudos

...to a recent ad from Disney Babies, showing a father painting the baby's room, with the headline, "Actually, labor starts around the seventh month." And another from Juicy Juice, with a big photo of a dad and his daughter. Still another for Golden Books, with another dad-and-daughter team, the tag line being, "Special moments last a lifetime." Is it my imagination, or are fathers showing up more often in big-name advertising?
